Mazda SkyActiv-G 2.5 Engine

Mazda SkyActiv-G 2.5 Engine: Features and Technology

The Mazda SkyActiv-G 2.5 engine is one of the key powertrains developed by Mazda as part of the SkyActiv concept. Produced at Hiroshima Plant since 2011, this engine demonstrates high efficiency, environmental friendliness and reliability. It is fitted to popular Mazda models such as the Mazda 6 and Mazda CX-5, offering drivers an optimal combination of power and economy.

Main Features

The Mazda SkyActiv-G 2.5 is designed using state-of-the-art technology and materials. Its cylinder block is made of aluminum, which significantly reduces engine weight and improves its thermal conductivity. The inline four-cylinder design and injected power system ensure even engine operation and precise fuel metering.

Technology Features

Mazda SkyActiv-G 2.5 Engine

One of the key features of the SkyActiv-G 2.5 engine is its high compression ratio of 14:1. This design allows for significantly improved combustion efficiency, resulting in lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions. This makes the engine compliant with Euro 4 environmental standards, although in practice its environmental credentials may be higher.

Performance and Economy

The SkyActiv-G 2.5 engine develops 192 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and a maximum torque of 256 Nm at 3,250 rpm. These figures ensure dynamic and smooth engine performance, making it an excellent choice for both urban and suburban driving.

The fuel economy of this engine is also at a high level. In the urban cycle, fuel consumption is 8.5 liters per 100 km, on the highway – 5.0 liters, and in the mixed cycle – 6.3 liters. These figures make the Mazda SkyActiv-G 2.5 a competitive option in its class.

Maintenance and Resource

The recommended oil for the Mazda SkyActiv-G 2.5 engine is 0W-20 or 5W-30. The oil volume for a full oil change is 4.5 liters, but about 4.3 liters should be filled at a standard oil change. Oil change interval is 15,000 km, but it is recommended to reduce this interval to 7,500 km when operating in severe conditions.

Exact data on engine life is not provided by the manufacturer, but in practice this indicator is expected to be at a high level, given the quality of materials used and production technology.

Mazda SkyActiv-G 2.5 Engine

Mazda SkyActiv-G 2.5 is a modern, economical and reliable engine, which is perfectly suited for Mazda 6 and Mazda CX-5 models. With a high compression ratio and the use of innovative technologies, this engine demonstrates excellent performance with low fuel consumption and meets high environmental standards. With regular maintenance and the use of quality materials, the SkyActiv-G 2.5 engine is able to provide long and stable operation of the vehicle.

Mazda SkyActiv 2.5 Engine Troubleshooting and Repair

The Mazda SkyActiv 2.5 engine, along with the 2-liter version, was one of the first representatives of the SkyActiv family. The motor replaced the 2.3 and 2.5 liter motors, the MZR series of the L model.

The new big Skyactiv is a very modern engine, with a system of changing the timing on both shafts Dual S-VT, with hydrocompensators, direct injection, lightweight piston and pistons of special shape, and with the installed spider 4-2-1, calculated length, with a catalytic converter, the probability of detonation at SJ 13, on 95-grade gasoline tends to zero. In addition, the factory spider gives a very pleasant, sporty sound under acceleration, which the owners are sure to like)).

Like the two-liter SkyActiv, there is also a slight noise and vibration when warming up. Some serious problems and shortcomings of the motor are not observed, the reason for this is their novelty, the cars just have not had time to roll any significant mileage.

Chip tuning SkyActiv 2.5

Tuning 2.5 liter engine is similar to the 1.5 liter SkyActiv, here only to knock out the catalytic converter and flash, companies engaged in tuning, promise to output about 200-205 hp. Press something more will not be possible, to install a turbine on SkyActiv 2.5 is a strange thing (because of the redesign of the spindle and the loss of the essence of technology SkyActiv) and financially very unprofitable, so we limit ourselves to chip-vhlop.
