Mitsubishi 4N16 engine

The 2.4-liter diesel engine Mitsubishi 4N16 is assembled by the Japanese company since 2022 and is installed on such popular models as pickup trucks L200 and SUVs Pajero Sport. This power unit is also installed in the minibus Nissan Caravan and similar Isuzu Como.

Mitsubishi 4N16 engine is a diesel engine with turbocharging system, used on some new models of Mitsubishi and Nissan. It is available in two versions: with a single turbine and with twin-turbocharged (Twin-Turbo). Below is the table with technical characteristics for both engine modifications.

Disadvantages, breakdowns and problems of the 4N16 engine

  1. The Mitsubishi 4N16 engine is new on the market, so there is no data on common breakdowns yet.
  2. The main difficulty faced by owners is the shortage of service centers and spare parts.
  3. The new generation piezo injectors can be sensitive to fuel quality.
  4. Some versions use a complex exhaust gas cleaning system.
  5. A number of modifications use AdBlue urea injection system.
