Later the engine was strangled under the Euro-5 environmental requirements and became known as A16LET, actually it is the difference between A16LET and Z16LET, which met the requirements of Euro-4.

Power and torque are great, but it is necessary to talk about the disadvantages, and they are similar to the younger brother A14NET. A typical disadvantage of the A16LET engine, and most Opel engines, is oil leaks from under the valve cover. That is, you will be required to periodically replace the gasket and tighten the bolts.

Dieseling and clicking sounds also have a place, this is part of the work of phase shifters and injectors, it is normal and there is nothing wrong here.

In addition to the usual LET version, there are its sport and de-fortified version. Sport engine A16LER develops 192 hp and is installed on Opel Corsa OPC, differs from the usual A16LET by intake and firmware. The deformed version – A16LEL, with an output of 150 hp, is put on the civilian version of the Opel Corsa D hatchback. With one or the other engine, the small Corsa goes very fast and quite dynamic.

In general, the engine A16LET(Z16LET) is not bad, if you pour good oil and monitor its level, pour quality gasoline, not too much racing, there will be no problems and the motor will serve you for a long time.

In 2012, Opel released a replacement for this motor, in the form of A16XHT, a very modern, even more torque and in general, more perfect engine.

Of course, it is possible to screw KKK K04 from Astra J OPC or Garrett 28, to put forged pistons, to adjust and to blow on all money, but then it is necessary to think about gearbox, a suspension, brakes i.e. it will be necessary modification as a whole, it is expensive and not rational, it is easier to get initially fast Astra OPC and to modify it.
