1.2-liter turbo engine Renault H5Ft or 1.2 TCe was assembled by the concern from 2012 to 2019 and installed on such famous models of the company as Clio, Megane, Scenic, Kadjar, Kangoo. This powertrain on Nissan cars is known under the index HRA2DDT or HR12DDT.
In 2012, a new 1.2 tce turbo unit debuted on the third-generation Megane and Scenic. It is a 4-cylinder all-aluminum motor with a 16-valve header without hydrocompensators, direct fuel injection system, chain-driven grm, phase adjusters on both shafts, low-inertia turbine with intercooler and oil pump of variable capacity. Antifriction coating of all internal surfaces was used to reduce friction.
On Renault cars there are three different modifications of the engine: TCe 115, TCe 120, TCe 130.

Disadvantages, breakdowns and problems of the H5Ft engine
Firmware problems
The first year of production there were many complaints about floating revolutions, poor starting in cold weather, sudden turbine shutdown when slowly climbing a hill and other glitches of the engine. The manufacturer released firmware one after another, until finally everything came to normal.
Oil addiction
The second most popular complaint of owners of Renault with such a dvs is the consumption of lubricant, which often appears from the first kilometers and sometimes reaches 1 liter per 1000 km. The reason for this is an unsuccessful piston group with defective oil rings.
Chain stretching
Not the longest life in the motor is characterized by the timing chain and the phase regulation system. With frequent operation of the engine at high speeds, the chain stretches already by 100,000 km. At the same mileage the phasoregulators may crack, and their replacement will cost a lot of money.
Valve fouling
In many units with direct fuel injection, the intake valves are overgrown with soot, but here it is especially pronounced: the motor starts to dull, and sometimes it simply stops.
