The Renault K7M engine debuted in 1995 with the first generation of the Megane model and immediately took its place among the budget and reliable motors that became popular in the European and Russian markets. The motor is equipped with distributed fuel injection, cast iron cylinder block, 8-valve block head without hydrocompensators, belt-driven timing and one ignition coil for 4 cylinders. At first its production was organized at the plant in Valladolid (Spain), but since 2004 its assembly was moved to Romania for use in Dacia brand models.

Engine features and operation
The K7M engine stands out for its simplicity and reliability, its resource with proper maintenance can be up to 300,000 km. The lack of hydrocompensators requires periodic adjustment of the thermal gaps of the valves, and the timing belt drive must be changed every 60-120 thousand km to avoid damage to the valves when the belt breaks.
Faults and repair of the engine Logan/Sandero 1.6 K7M
The engine Renault K7M 710 1,6 liters. 86 hp. is nothing but the usual K7J 1.4 liters, only with an increased stroke of the piston (from 70 to 80.5 mm), of course the height of the block slightly increased, the clutch of larger diameter, increased flywheel and changed the shape of the gearbox crankcase. Structurally, the engine 1.6 liters, as well as its low-volume counterpart, has the same archaic design of the middle of the last century with rocker arms and a strange system of oil pump drive from the lower-shaft Renault motors of the 60’s. Despite everything, with careful attitude to the motor, service and maintenance, oil replacement 2 times more often than the instructions, it is very and very reliable, according to internal factory data resource of the engine 1.6 about 400 thousand kilometers, in practice the engine passed a little more.
In 2010, K7M 710 was replaced by K7M 800, the engine was strangled, pulled up to the environmental standard Euro-4, the power decreased to 83 hp, there were no constructive changes.
Minuses of K7M are the same as those of the engine K7J 1.4, high fuel consumption, often at idle start floating revolutions, constantly (once in 20-30 thousand km) it is necessary to adjust valves, hydrocompensators as it was not and is not, the drive of timing belt, at break of a belt at Logan 1.6 bends valves, therefore once in 60 thousand km we change a belt. All the same leaks crankshaft oil seal. The motor is noisy, there are vibrations. Also on the basis of K7M was created engine K4M with 16-valve cylinder head and other significant innovations, the power of such a motor is significantly higher and in case of choice (for example, Logan, Sandero), always take it, you will not regret it.

Engine K7M 800 you can remove the catalytic converter, return its original power of 86 hp, put the exhaust and flash sports firmware, maybe a couple more horses and add, but nothing will change significantly, except for fuel consumption, now your motor will eat more )))
Compressor and turbine
The easiest, fastest and most reliable way to install a compressor is to buy a ready-made kit. For the motor kits are not so much in nature, but still there are offices ready to sell a ready set, a set based on the PK-23-1 with a pressure of 0.5 bar, the standard motor will stand without modifications piston and will inflate in the neighborhood of 95-110 forces. More productive PK-23s with 0.7 bar pressure will ask for compression ratio reduction, we will reduce it by installing a thick cylinder-head gasket or two gaskets, possibly require modification/replacement of the piston. Both compressors will require more productive Volgov injectors BOSCH 107, exhaust modification and online tuning. If you have a budget of 1/4 of the cost of the car, you can build a compressor on the basis of Toyota SC14 from Mark, but the list of additional parts will stretch to several pages. Anyway, you will not get any super power.
Will the compressor reduce the resource of the K7J engine? Of course it will, but tuning engineers do not care much))))
We do the same as with the compressor, injectors BOSH 107, cylinder head gasket, intercooler (from Evolution, for example), exhaust on 51 mm pipe, pipes, consumables, the turbine itself IHI RHB3 or similar. Now this pile of iron need to adjust, for this you need to befriend the motor with ECU January, it will not be easy, but realizable quite. At the output this set will give out +\- 110 hp. Looking ahead… you will not be able to achieve high power.
