- High Oil Consumption: A common engine problem is high oil consumption due to piston ring seizure. This can lead to the need to replace the rings and other components of the piston group.
- Liner wear: A drop in oil level sometimes causes the liners to rotate, which may require a major overhaul.
- Timing chain: The timing chain does not have a high life expectancy and sometimes needs to be replaced before 150,000 km.
- Oil leaks: Leaks from under the valve cover and through the oil pressure sensor are common.
- No hydrocompensators: Since the engine is not equipped with hydrocompensators, it is recommended to adjust valve clearances every 90,000 km to maintain normal operation.
